Weathered sand is granite metamorphic rock or gneiss. This rock has the advantages of easy crushing and low compressive strength. It is widely used to build two kinds of sand. This rock structure generally exists in the form of high content of earth and mica, so after finely crushing, it must be washed by water and removed by impurities from mica separator, then it can be used for construction sand.
With the increasing depletion of river sand resources and the continuous improvement of environmental protection efforts, some rivers, reservoirs and other sandworks have been closed, and weathered sand gradually replaced river sand. Weathered sand is an intermediate product of weathering process of surface rocks. It is also a prophase product of river sand. Its durability is worse than that of ordinary rivers and sand, and its physical and mechanical properties are unstable. The characteristic of the weathered sand is that the particles are angled, the strength is weak, the size distribution is not uniform, and a quantity of fine soil particles are contained.

Weathered sand has strong water resistance and can be used as the construction of two types of sand. The consolidation of weathered sand is also faster, and it can be used as a good pervious or semi permeable material.
